About the artist
CARLA GRACE
Wildlife Artist
I’m a self-taught wildlife artist based in South Australia, creating original oil and acrylic paintings inspired by a lifelong connection to the natural world. Growing up in Africa shaped the way I see and understand wildlife — not just how it looks, but how it moves, behaves, and exists within its environment. That early exposure still influences the way I approach every painting today, with a focus on light, atmosphere, and a sense of presence.
Over the past few years, my work has grown into a full-time practice, supporting both my family and a global audience of collectors. In 2023, a collaborative painting created alongside the Kevin Richardson Foundation was awarded People’s Choice at the ARC Salon and exhibited at Sotheby’s New York. That piece, built from multiple references gathered in South Africa, became a turning point in both the scale and ambition of my work.
Alongside my paintings, I also run an online tutorial platform where I share my full process with artists around the world. My aim is to help raise the standard of wildlife art more broadly — giving other artists the tools, understanding, and confidence to create stronger, more intentional work. Through my online presence and teaching, I’ve built a global community of artists and collectors who follow along with my process, both for the technical insight and the deeper connection to the work.
More recently, I’ve begun creating more immersive ways for collectors to engage with what I do — from limited releases to in-person experiences where the process itself becomes part of the final piece. My work is ultimately about more than the finished painting. It’s about creating a deeper connection to the subject, the process, and the story behind each work.
